(1). Do I Need a DCDC Charger for a Lithium Battery?
Because of the programs in a quality charger, it will optimize to suit the type of battery you have, whether it be Lead Acid, AGM, or Lithium. If you have or are considering a lithium battery, then you had better use a DCDC charger.
(2). Will Charging Overnight Damage the Battery?
You can safely charge your device overnight without worrying about damaging the internals of the battery. Once the battery reaches 100% charge, it automatically stops drawing current. But it is recommended not to fully charge it every time, which is not suitable for battery life.
